NSC athletics track reopens on Monday

by isleofman.com 12th February 2016

The athletics track at the National Sports Centre reopens on Monday (15th February).

The track was among indoor and outdoor facilities damaged in severe flooding on Thursday 3rd December.

Work to sanitise and professionally clean the track, using specialist equipment, began on Monday and ends at the weekend.

Only the running track and facilities for shot put and javelin will be back in use initially.

Long jump, high jump, pole vault and discus cannot take place as replacement sand, hammer cage netting and landing mats have been ordered and will take an estimated eight weeks to arrive.

Athletes from various clubs use the track but it is the home of Manx Harriers.

Work goes on towards reopening the remainder of the damaged facilities. See here for the most recent update.
