Shark tagged in Peel last year spotted off Moroccon coast

Manx Basking Shark Watch members say they're "delighted" after a shark they tagged last summer appeared off the coast of Morocco.

The 8 metre male shark, nicknamed Flowrider, had a SPOT satellite tag attached to its dorsal fin last August whilst it was in Peel bay.

It was picked up via satellite on 27th of January this year when the shark surfaced 50 miles off the Moroccan coast.

Graham Hall from MBSW says the animal appeared on the edge of the continental shelf.

Flowrider's tag had been sponsored by Sealife in Blackpool.

If you or your organisation would like to sponsor a SPOT tag for this year's research work you can get in contact with the team via the website www.manxbaskingsharkwatch.org or via their Facebook page.
