Island may face teacher recruitment crisis

The head of an Island school says there can be no compromise over the standards of teaching here.

It follows warnings from teaching unions of a national recruitment crisis.

It’s predicted 160,000 extra teachers will be needed across England and Wales over the next three years and the Island is not immune from that.

However, Adrienne Burnett, head at Ballakermeen High School, says while that inevitably means class sizes will be larger in certain subjects, it’s better than the alternative.
