Doesn't want public voting for leader

The Island's treasury minister says he'd rather 'die in a ditch' than see a publicly elected chief minister.

Michael MHK Alfred Cannan wants to stop legislative council members having a vote on the Island's political leader.

That sparked a debate in the House of Keys this week - with a suggestion a publicly elected chief minister would be the most democratic process.

But Mr Teare says he would strongly oppose this:
