by isleofman.com 2nd February 2016
To coincide with February half-term, Castle Rushen, Rushen Abbey and The Great Laxey Wheel will open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays from 6th February 11am – 3pm, providing residents and visitors with a great choice of days out.

The Manx Museum open Monday – Saturday all year round, is currently hosting Heroes, a Jorvik exhibition, telling the stories of nine ‘real-life’ celebrities of the Viking world including the wonderfully named Eric Bloodaxe and the Isle of Man’s legendary King Orry. Heroes is kindly sponsored by The Isle of Man Steam Packet Company.

Monday to Friday of half term week sees the Manx Museum’s ‘Superheroes Week’. Take your place in the Heroes Viking camp in the Exploratorium, discover the supernatural powers of Thor and Odin, try on battle helmets and play Sigurd’s story game as your chosen hero. Visitors can also find out their own superhero name, design their own hero character and mask. On Wednesday 10th February, come dressed as your favourite superhero and enter our costume competition with a prize awarded at 12pm and 3pm.

The House of Manannan is open daily 10am – 5pm all year round, and from Saturday 6 February is host to an art exhibition ‘They came from the deep blue sea’ by Danish artist Susanne Thea. Susanne’s art prints are inspired by sagas and early manuscripts detailing the famous Viking Battle of Clontarf in Ireland in April AD 1014.
