Two incredible live acts are to play at the Villa Marina over one weekend this Spring.
Online booking opened this morning to see 10cc and The Charlatans on Friday 15th and Saturday 16th April respectively.
10cc had their first ever gig on the Isle of Man in 1973 and return to the Island to delight audiences with their massive hits such as ‘Donna’, ‘I’m not in love’, ‘Dreadlock Holiday’, Bloody Tourists’ and ‘Things We Do For Love’.
Vocalist and bass player Graham Gouldman recalled the response to that gig in the Island: “We went onstage and girls started screaming! It was like, what is going on? We imagined ourselves as professors of pop who were going to give a lecture on pop music but it wasn’t like that at all.”
The Charlatans, fronted by Tim Burgess, return to the Isle of Man on the back of their critically acclaimed 12th album, ‘Modern Nature'.
Following the untimely death of their drummer Jon Brookes in August 2013 following a long battle with brain cancer, the band say it was his memory and spirit that spurred them on to make a bright, uplifting, summery record that stands up as one of the finest of their career.
David Cretney MHK added: “The Villa Marina is delighted to be promoting another great band this year and, with a reputation as one of the best live bands around, The Charlatans promise a really great night out on April 16th. We are also delighted that tiny Cow is promoting 10cc the night before so we have two fantastic nights of music to look forward to.”
