Appeal after attempted handbag theft

Police are appealing for information regarding an attempted theft which occured at approximately 2.50pm yesterday afternoon, Thursday 28th January 2016, in the Marks and Spencer store in Douglas.

A female attempted to steal a handbag from a trolley whilst the owner of the bag was not looking; the owner became aware of what was going on and snatched her bag back. The female offender then ran out of the store onto Strand Street.

The offending female is described as white, early 30’s, shoulder length black hair and wearing a dark coloured puffer jacket. There is believed to be a number of witnesses who saw this happen.

This incident left the victim upset and shaken. If you witnessed the incident or you are the female in question please contact PC 250 David Thommeny at Lord Street police station (Tel: 631212)
