Endurance athlete & Britain’s answer to Forrest Gump, Sean Conway will be the guest speaker at this year’s Insurance Institute of the Isle of Man Annual Dinner. The dinner, which takes place at the Palace Hotel & Casino on Friday 19th February is once again kindly sponsored by The MAC Group.
Sean Conway was born in Harare, Zimbabwe in 1981 and he was the first person to swim the length of Great Britain but not content with this, he then decided to run and cycle it as well! He also cycled from London to Paris in 24 hours, kayaked the Thames and cycled through the Alps to avoid paying for a flight.
Sean can most recently be seen in the Discovery Channel documentary, Running Britain where his 1,011 mile, self supported run, over 44 days was documented. Working his way up to 40 miles per day, Sean explored as many trails through Great Britain as possible.
Bryan O’Connor, President of the Institute said “The annual dinner is pre-eminent event in the calendar for the institute and we are delighted to welcome Sean to the island for what promises to be an entertaining evening. I would like to thank The MAC Group for their continued support and also Quinn Legal for sponsoring the President’s pre- dinner drinks reception.”
Nigel Gregg, Group Managing Director of The MAC Group said “We are delighted to sponsor the IOM Institute dinner, which is a fitting opportunity to recognise the important contribution of financial professionals on the island”.
The evening will include a charity raffle in support of The Insurance Charities and also the President’s chosen charity, Wish Upon a Dream, which grants wishes for sick and terminally ill children living on the island.
