Options being discussed - but funding still a problem
The horse trams may yet run this summer.
A meeting held yesterday (Wed) to discuss the future of the service has been described as "very productive".
A statement says workable options for the possible retention of the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway were discussed.
A working party made up of officers from Government, the Council, Manx National Heritage and Culture Vannin has now been established to gather information and suggest a way forward with a view to operating the trams this season.
It will also consider the long term future of the service.
However, Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne says a shortage of funding for the horse trams will remain a major issue.
Leader of Douglas Council David Christian adds they're happy to help the working party by giving it all the information it needs and he believes there's a commitment to find the best way forward for the whole Island.
