Cold calling laws make progress

OFT chairman guides legislation through Keys

Legislation is progressing to outlaw 'cold-calling' sales on the Island.

The Consumer Protection Bill's clauses went under scrutiny in the House of Keys earlier this week.

If passed, it will make aggressive, unsolicited marketing illegal here - with traders who flout the law can be fined up to £10,000.

Office of Fair Trading Chairman David Quirk explained what constitutes a cold call:
