More bad weather on the way

by isleofman.com 25th January 2016

The Met Office are predicting gale force winds overnight with a spell of heavy rain tomorrow morning (Tuesday) which may cause localised flooding and with the ground already saturated, standing water on the Island's roads.

Coupled with tomorrow's early afternoon high tide they are also predicting significant overtopping by waves and therefore possible debris.

You can keep up to date with the latest weather forecast here and residents are encouraged to take the appropriate steps, if necessary, to protect their property.

Sandbags are available at civic amenity sites and people are urged to take only what they need. Motorists should abide by any road closures or traffic diversions that are put in place to protect public safety, even if they are driving a vehicle they feel is capable of negotiating flood water.

Any incidents of standing water on the highways can be reported to the Department of Infrastructure on 850000, while people should call 999 in the event of a life-threatening emergency. Flood advice is available from Manx Utilities on 687687.
