Positive Action Group (PAG) in 2016 will explore the considerable influence which the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce has in the economic life of the Island.
Established some 55 years ago, the IOM Chamber of Commerce has experienced all the ups and downs of the Island's economy.
In the past 12 months the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce seems to have adopted a higher public profile.
With the current economic uncertainty it is dedicated to creating a climate for economic growth in our community.
In this General Election year the IOMCOC will play an active part in promoting its ideas to both candidates and to the electorate.
It will not be focussing on what are perceived fundamental community essentials - health, social care & education - but will concentrate on all other aspects of the political debate.
Chief Executive, Jane Dellar, aided by elected Council Member, Bill Mummery, will explain the structure of the organisation,
its philosophy and strategy.
Some of the topics which will also be explained will be:
- the relationship with government Departments
- the much publicised call for substantially increasing the number jobs
- the Wirral connection
There will be an opportunity for the audience to question the presenters and also to contribute to the discussion.
A spokesperson for PAG said: "The political influence exerted by the Chamber of Commerce seems to have increased in the last 4 years. It is an high profile business network of members representing all key sectors of the economy. The Chamber seldom meets the general public so we are pleased that Chief Executive, Jane Dellar, and well known businessman Bill Mummery have agreed to come and explain its structure and its stance on certain important political issues.
After the presentation there will be an opportunity for the audience to question the guests and also to contribute to the discussion."
