Quangos to be assessed by CoMin

Tynwald has unanimously backed a motion from West Douglas MHK Chris Thomas.

The Council of Ministers is to assess a range of government amd parliamentary bodies.

Tynwald has unanimously backed a motion from West Douglas MHK Chris Thomas.

Ministers will now report back by July on the effectiveness of committees and boards, examining their purpose, cost and whether they should continue in their current form.

Health and Social Care Minister Howard Quayle urged a note of caution, however, stressing any pruning should be kept to a 'manageable level' within government departments to avoid inadvertently forming another level of bureaucracy.
