Charges include benefits fraud and a string of motoring offences

A man accused of falsely claiming almost £1,500 in benefits, damaging a wall in a site of Special Scientific Interest at Greeba and a string of motoring offences will appear in court again in March.

Daniel Richard Gregory of Heather Crescent in Pulrose appeared before Deputy High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse on Tuesday.

In total, he faces ten charges – two of benefits fraud, two of having no car tax, and one each of criminal damage, driving on designated land, failing to stop for police, failing to produce insurance documents, driving without insurance and failing to notify Treasury of a vehicle’s change of ownership.

Mr Gregory, aged 26, denies all counts.

He was bailed to the sum of £500, granted legal aid and will appear in court again on Tuesday, March 15.
