EU No vote could force Island 'into UK's arms'

Chief Minister concerned over UK referendum

Chief Minister Allan Bell says if the UK chooses to leave the European Union, the Isle of Man might have to rely more on Westminster.

According to UK newspapers over the weekend, the No campaign has built up its biggest lead since the general election.

Mr Bell says because of our constitutional relationship with the UK and our access to Europe through Britain, a vote to leave could be bad news for the Island.

Speaking on Manx Radio's Sunday Opinion programme, Mr Bell claimed if Britain left, we might be forced into closer ties with our neighbour:
