TT 'not absolute deadline' for Laxey bridge

Minister says timescale is tight, but possible

Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne says although he’d like Laxey’s new bridge to be open by TT, it wouldn’t be the end of the world if the timetable slips.

Last week, the department put in a planning application for the replacement span with a design featuring two lighthouses.

Mr Gawne says although he’d like it in place for the start of the festival, the timescale for building it is very tight.

And he says people shouldn’t consider the festival to be an absolute deadline:
