The offender, armed with a knife, entered the store and confronted one of the two female employees who were working at the time. The staff member co-operated and the offender fled with a quantity of cash believed to be approximately ?500.

Detective Sergeant Bobby Syme said: ‘This offence is obviously worrying for the public and a very alarming method of offending, but thankfully there were no serious physical injuries to the lady who cooperated with the offender instructions.
‘We are keen to speak to anyone who was in the vicinity of the Spar shop between 9.15pm and 9.45 pm on Saturday night or anyone who may have been in the shop at around the time of this offence.
‘A male has been arrested in connection with this offence and is currently being questioned by officers, but this is by no means conclusive so I again appeal to the public for any information which may assist the investigation. The public is likely to see extra patrols in and around such shops and this is to reassure them whilst investigations continue.'
