Quirk dismisses commissioner's call to step down

OFT chairman denies hypocrisy

The chairman of the Office of Fair Trading has dismissed a call for him to step down over the handling of Manx Gas's prices.

David Quirk MHK has been hypocritical, according to Onchan Commissioner Rob Callister, in saying the infrastructure minister and his chief executive should consider their positions.

The Public Accounts Committee has recently published a damning report into the DoI's handling of the Peel harbour silt dredging project.

Mr Quirk believes the two matters are completely different:
