Sweeten up Valentine's Day for charity

by isleofman.com 14th January 2016
Local businesses are being encouraged to take part in ‘Chocolate for Charity’ for Valentine’s Day, when The Children’s Centre will be visiting offices in the Isle of Man to give employees the chance to decorate their own chocolate heart, handmade by Davisons. The heart will then be gift wrapped to be enjoyed by its creator or gifted to a Valentine.

Last year The Children’s Centre raised over ?2,000 and Lisa Motley, the Endurance Events Fundraiser, would like more companies to take part this year.

“This is a fun way for people to celebrate Valentine’s Day and raise money for The Children’s Centre at the same time,” says Lisa. “For just ?5 per heart, we provide the hearts and all decorating and packaging material, and your employees’ imagination does the rest!”

In order to take part, businesses should contact Lisa on 01624 676076 or email lisamotley@thechildrenscentre.org.im before Friday 29th January to book their decorating slot during the ‘Chocolate for Charity’ event, which will take place from 8th to 11th February.

To help stimulate people’s creativity, The Children’s Centre is also appealing for volunteers with a flair for cake decorating and chocolate art to offer their expertise at the ‘Chocolate for Charity’ events.

“This is a great team building event,” says Lisa, “and last year lots of people surprised themselves with the designs they produced. For 2016 we’d like some talented cake decorators to join in and give teams the opportunity to get even more creative. If you’d like to offer your skills to help the Children’s Centre then please call me or my colleague Lucy on 676076. We’d love to hear from you!”
