Isle of Man Bank announced as main sponsor of the 2015 Isle of Man Sports Awards

Awards celebrating the Island’s sporting achievements during 2015 will be sponsored by long-time partner the Isle of Man Bank.

The 2015 Isle of Man Sports Awards, which take place at the Villa Marina Royal Hall on 23rd March, is a highlight in the sporting calendar and will bring together sportsmen and women who have achieved greatness over the past 12 months.

Bill Shimmins, Managing Director of Isle of Man Bank, commented: ‘The Isle of Man Sports Awards are a great opportunity for local sportsmen and women to be recognised for their fantastic achievements and successes. At Isle of Man Bank, we are delighted to continue our support of this event.’

Gary Corkhill, Executive Chairman of Isle of Man Sport, said: ‘It is a real boost to the awards that the Isle of Man Bank has again agreed to be the main sponsor. We have a great relationship with the bank and the Sports Awards is a fantastic spectacle which we are pleased it will be supporting.’

Eleven awards will be presented on the evening:

• Sportsman of the Year, sponsored by Isle of Man Bank
• Sportswoman of the Year, sponsored by Isle of Man Bank
• Disability Sportsperson of the Year, sponsored by Conister Bank
• Sports Administrator of the Year, sponsored by Service Tech Ltd
• Isle of Man Ambassador, sponsored by the Department of Economic Development
• Coach of the Year, sponsored by Mylchreests Group
• Team of the Year, sponsored by Microgaming
• Under 21 Sportsman of the Year, sponsored by IOM Newspapers
• Under 21 Sportswoman of the Year, sponsored by SMP Partners
• Veteran Sportsperson of the Year, sponsored by Manx Radio
• Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by VisitIOM.co.uk

There will also be the presentation of the Young Sports Leader of the Year Award, sponsored by Sure, and the recipients of Isle of Man Sport Aid for 2016/17 will receive their certificates.

The deadline for submitting nominations for the awards is Sunday 31st January. They should be sent to Paul Callow, Isle of Man Sport Office, National Sports Centre, Groves Road, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM1 2RB, or emailed to iomsportsawards@gov.im

Tickets for the awards go on sale in February via the Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre website, https://www.villagaiety.com/.
