Castletown rates frozen again

by isleofman.com 13th January 2016

No change for sixth successive year

Castletown rates will enjoy a rate freeze for the sixth year in succession.

The town commissioners have announced it will remain at £3.20 in the pound for the financial year beginning in April.

Chairman Alwyn Collister says it represents ‘good fiscal management’ despite the fact the local authority has made significant capital investment in recent years.

This includes a contribution of £80,000 to the Castletown regeneration project, repairs to the sea wall and car park and the Civic Centre extension for the new library and police station.

A total of £20,000 has also been allocated to provide an audio system, CCTV and free public WiFi in Castletown square.
