Sayle Gallery: Funding latest

by isleofman.com 12th January 2016

A further meeting took place yesterday, 11th January, between The Arts Council and the Sayle Gallery.

The Arts Council provided additional funding in December last year to enable the Gallery to continue to operate for a further 6 months till a more sustainable solution could be found.

Talking in December last year Tim Crookall MLC, Minister for Education and Children, said: “I am happy we have been able to agree a way forward in the short term. The Arts Council never withdrew funding in totality and it is important that we are assured the Sayle Gallery will use this extra period of funding to find a suitable strategy for future funding.”

The outcome of yesterday's meeting was that the partnership is hopeful of reaching a workable funding agreement by early February. They confirmed discussions are also taking place with the Department of Economic Development and it is hoped support will be offered by other sectors on the Island.
