Microgaming Plays It Forward to Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust with ?5,000 donation

by isleofman.com 7th January 2016
Microgaming has donated ?5,000 to the Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust.

Established in 1998, the Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust is the only provider of ‘Hospice at Home’ services on the Isle of Man. The Manx-registered charity provides respite and palliative (end-of-life) care to island residents in their own home, who suffer from a life-limiting illness where curative treatment is no longer possible or appropriate. Through high quality nursing care, support is given not only to the patient, but to family and friends. Offering over 1,000 hours of free care each year to patients, the Trust relies solely on donations to supply this vital service to the community.

Ron Spencer, Chairman of Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust, commented: “Since 2012, the number of hours of care delivered by Hospice at Home has doubled to over 1,400 hours per year. This donation from Microgaming will go a long way in helping patients in the wider community. The welcome funding will assist in securing provision of additional nursing care to help meet anticipated demand in 2016.”

Claire Coleman, Head of Microgaming PlayItForward, added: “The Diana Princess of Wales Care at Home Trust is a one-of-a-kind Manx charity that provides crucial services to island residents. Last year Microgaming hosted a charity poker tournament in aid of the Trust, which raised over ?5,000. Having witnessed the charity’s commitment and hard work, naturally we were very keen to support them once again. We know the donation will go a long way.”
