The Isle of Man Astronomical Society, with the kind support and assistance of Onchan Commissioners are pleased to announce another Public Stargazing event at Onchan Park on Tuesday 12th, Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th January 2016 starting at 7.00pm ending at 9.00pm. The event will of course be weather dependent, but even if partially cloudy objects and features of our night sky will be visible
The event, which is now held annually will take place at one of the Isle of Man’s Dark sky discovery sites and will give members of the public the opportunity to see the wonder of the Manx Night skies with the naked eye and through Society members telescopes and binoculars
We would be delighted to welcome all members of the public to the event but would point out that children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Society press officer, Howard Parkin said: "This is a great opportunity for members of the IOM Astronomical society to show the Manx public the wonders of the dark Manx night skies, from one of the Islands Dark sky Discovery sites. Our members will have a number of telescopes available for people to look through, and also take the opportunity to pointing out the stars constellations and visible in the fantastic Manx winter skies.
The event has been planned to coincide with the BBC TV annual event “Stargazing live”, and is a great opportunity to be able to point out and explain the features of the Winter skies, so wrap up warm and come along and see for yourselves just why our skies are amongst the best in the world for stargazing."
