Isle of Man Archery Club Report - 3rd January

The New Year got off to a good start at Onchan on Sunday with five pb’s and a New Club Record. The Club met to shoot a WA18 round as part of the Club’s Handicap League.

Danny Cowin showed a good return to form by setting a new pb and shooting the highest scratch Recurve score of the day. After the handicap was applied Danny had to settle for fourth place. John Hill was also in good form adding 50 points to his pb for the round and finishing in second place overall after handicapping. John’s son James, added 35 points to his pb for the round and out shot his Dad but had to settle for third place after the handicap had been applied. Fellow junior archer Joseph Reaney showed the greatest improvement on the day by adding 52 points to his pb and taking first place after handicapping.

Pete Mumford recorded the highest Compound score of the day but had to settle for joint sixth place with Colin Moore after the handicap was applied.

Lesley Sleight began the New Year with a New Club Record for the Ladies Bare bow but had to settle for fifth place after handicapping.

Results WA18 Handicap – 1. Joseph Reaney 1509 (58/398/4)pb, 2. John Hill 1476 (60/376/3)pb, 3. James Hill 1459 (60/380/0)pb, 4. Danny Cowin 1448 (60/530/17)pb, 5. Lesley Sleight 1433 (58/373/6)NCR, 6. Pete Mumford 1429 (60/552/17), =6. Colin Moore 1429 (60/546/11), 8. Joy Gough 1424 (60/539/11), 9. Josh Trafford 1418 (60/519/14), 10. Tony Hartley 1399 (60/376/3).

Dave, Ethan and Rhys Moore elected not to shoot the round of the day and instead focused on a Portsmouth 3 spot. The results were as follows: 1. Rhys Moore 60/580/40, 2. Dave Moore 60/574/34, 3. Ethan Moore 59/542/19.
