All welcome at Hango Hill

The annual Illiam Dhone ceremony takes place this afternoon (Sat 2nd)

Instigated by Manx Nationalist party Mec Vannin, the event at Hango Hill in Castletown first took place in 1963 and has been held every year since 1979.

It commemorates the execution by firing squad of Illiam Dhone in 1663 for his part in handing the Island over to parliamentary forces during the English Civil War.

Bernard Moffatt will open the ceremony and says this year's orators should be particularly interesting.

The event gets underway at 2pm and all are welcome.
