Staff suspended as police inquiry begins

Police have launched an investigation into the death of a 95-year old woman at a nursing home in Ramsey.

A number of staff at the Beaconsfield Nursing Home have been suspended, as officers examine the circumstances surrounding what they say is an unexplained death.

Concerns about the treatment and care of the 95 year old resident were raised with police on 18 December, after she passed away.

Detective Inspector Mark Newey is leading a joint investigation into her death with the Department of Social Care's Safeguarding adults team and management from the home.

A number of staff at the home in Jurby Road, Ramsey are suspended in what's described as 'a precautionary measure' - a decision in which the department's inspections team has had a say.

The results of a post mortem have not been made public and police say they won't be making any further comment at this time.

The coroner of inquests has been informed.
