Sea travel ID checks proposed

The Manx public is being asked for views on whether residents should have to show ID when travelling to and from the Isle of Man by sea. 

If you have any thoughts on the matter, the Department of Home Affairs wants to hear from you.

It has launched a public consultation.

The department says it believes the measure would help combat crime and is in favour of introducing ID checks on ferry passengers.

However, Home Affairs Minister Juan Watterson says the department wants to hear what people think about the proposals and has promised to act accordingly:
