Businesses bling up for Christmas to win ‘Best Dressed’ awards

by isleofman.com 22nd December 2015
This year’s Best Dressed Business awards have been won by Adele’s Dancewear and Monsoon.

Organised by Douglas Development Partnership (DDP) the two-category competition - independent and chain store - saw retailers dress their windows to impress. A photo of each entry was taken then posted on DDP’s Facebook page and the public invited to cast their votes.

Sponsored by Manx Radio and Gallery magazine the independent category saw Adele’s Dancewear win a full-page advertising space in the magazine plus a year’s free on-air advertising, while in the chain store class, Monsoon topped the poll to win a donation of ?200 to their charity of choice, Housing Matters, sponsored by DDP.

Town centre manager Michelle O’Malley said: ‘We’ve been running this competition since 2013 and every year the displays get more ambitious. A big thank you is due to everyone who took the time to vote. Thanks also go to Manx Radio’s John Marsom and Gallery’s Steve Redford for, once again, providing such a fantastic prize for the independent winner and also for judging the competition along with Stephen Bradley from the Isle of Man Chamber of Commerce.

‘And of course a final thank you has to go to all those businesses which entered and went all-out to bling-up their windows and create a bit of “Tinseltown” right here in Douglas.’
