MHK asks for government salary breakdown

Concern over high earners

An MHK is asking for a detailed breakdown of the Manx government’s wage structure.

Alfred Cannan made the request after it was suggested medical staff are largely responsible for an increase in the wage bill.

Last week, Chief Minister Allan Bell said medical consultants and surgeons made up the majority of top earners, receiving salaries which reflected the importance of their role.

However, Mr Cannan says if official figures are correct, there’s been a worrying increase in staff numbers earning high salaries over the last few years.
