Manx Telecom has appointed Stephen Kane as Head of Data Centre and Managed Services. He is now responsible for defining and driving the commercial team’s data centre and managed service product portfolio and product strategy, and will be looking to add to the company’s already impressive list of clients.

Stephen has over 15 years commercial management experience, spanning data centre strategic management, project management, product management, multi-million dollar contract negotiation and revenue budget management in excess of ?25million per annum. He has delivered multiple large fully outsourced managed platforms across multiple jurisdictions, on-time and on budget, for a diverse range of clients.

He has returned to Manx Telecom after five years with Sure/Sure International (formerly Cable & Wireless Communications) where he was Head of Commercial Strategy, and Head of Data Centre Commercial for the Channel Islands and Isle of Man. Prior to that he worked for Manx Telecom for six years joining the company in 2005 as eBusiness and Data Centre Product Manager. In 2008 he became eBusiness and Data Centre Development Manager, and in 2010 was appointed Head of Data Centre Commercial, a role he held until moving to Sure in February 2011. Earlier in his career he was Yield Controller and eBusiness Project Manager within the SeaContainers group and this brought him to the Isle of Man initially in 2001 to work for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company.
Commenting on his appointment, Stephen said: “I was thrilled to be given an opportunity to return to Manx Telecom and to focus again on building solutions that deliver real benefit to Isle of Man Plc. The company has a long history of innovation and continues to develop, grow, and invest in some really exciting solutions. This ethos, coupled with their depth and breadth of highly skilled people, make it a really exciting place to come to work.”

David Smith, Manx Telecom Marketing Director, welcomed Stephen’s appointment and added: “I am delighted to welcome Stephen back to Manx Telecom. The data centre market has changed enormously over the last five years and we have ambitious plans for the development of cloud based services to appeal to business markets on and off-Island. Stephen is the ideal person to spearhead our plans and is looking forward to re-engaging with our staff and customers.”

Manx Telecom will be highlighting its range of cloud based hosting and disaster recovery solutions at ICE 2016 in February, and bringing the latest news about its second Tier 3 data centre. The company is data centre provider to the world’s largest poker sites PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker, but Manx Telecom’s range of data centre, network, security, cloud and managed platform solutions are ideal for smaller or rapidly growing organisations that require a high degree of data centre or IT flexibility.
