Ice attraction in Strand Street

by isleofman.com 18th December 2015

Artists Darren Jackson and Stephanie Quayle will once again bring some festive cheer to the main shopping street tomorrow (Saturday).

Last year, the theme of their stunning ice sculpture was Frozen, pictured.

This Christmas they are carving a penguin trio that will take shape from around 10am and should be completed by midday.

Town centre manager Michell O'Malley said: 'Douglas is the go-to destination at Christmas, never more so than on Saturday December 19 when Darren and Stephanie’s ice sculpture is set to be a real crowd-puller, and of course we’re very grateful to Sure for sponsoring the event for the fourth year in succession.'

As well as the live ice carving there will be a 'stocking fillers' fair in Castle Street and Marina Road, with more than 20 local craftspeople setting out their stall.

Parking is free in Shaw's Brow, Chester Street and the Bottleneck all day Saturday and Sunday.
