Laxey link restored

by isleofman.com 17th December 2015

A temporary footbridge has been opened in Laxey - reconnecting the two sides of the lower valley.

The structure will remain in place until a new road bridge is created to replace the bridge that crumbled under the weight of a double decker bus during the severe flooding earlier this month.

The Department of Infrastructure hopes to complete the new bridge before next year's TT festival. DOI Minister Phil Gawne has said that local people will get a say in what should replace the stone bridge that stood at the harbour mouth for more than two hundred years.
