Ballasalla pupils spread some Christmas cheer to the village community today (Wednesday 16th December).
All 88 pupils took to the streets of Ballasalla to deliver Christmas cards to their neighbours. The cards all featured designs produced by the children. The pupils were accompanied by the children of Willow Class playing Christmas songs they have learnt as part of their Soundstart project. Jingle Bells was a firm favourite.
Headteacher Jamie Cox said, “We are a community school and as such we wanted to get our pupils out into the village to pass on our Christmas wishes to our neighbours.”
Resident Mrs Hughes said “What a wonderful surprise!” as she received her card delivered a pupil.
Paul Hamilton of the Music Service said, “The children performing Christmas pieces today started to learn their instruments through the Soundstart project, which provides all year 5 and 6 students from the school, the opportunity to learn an instrument together as a band. This is lead by tuition of staff from the Department of Education and Children's Music Service”.
