Parole system inquiry to resume

by isleofman.com 14th December 2015

Independent public inquiry gets underway in earnest

An independent public inquiry into the Island’s parole system will resume this morning (Monday).

Led by former advocate Geoff Karran, it will initially hear evidence centred on the practices and procedures of parole.

It will later turn its attention to the case of St John’s man Donovan Kitching.

In April last year he caused the death of Hampshire woman Gwen Valentine by dangerous driving, just three weeks after he was released from Jurby prison on parole.

The hearing this morning resumes at 10 o’clock in the lecture theatre at 88 Woodbourne Road in Douglas, continuing tomorrow and, if required, on Wednesday.
