Campaign begins to leave English FA

The Isle of Man should examine the possibility of becoming an international football nation with Europe's governing body – so says the Island’s most successful club manager of his generation.

St George’s boss Chris Bass was speaking after the Jersey Football Association lodged a bid to join UEFA.

A document outlining a case for the Isle of Man was delivered to Tynwald members yesterday (Friday), although it’s not officially come from the Isle of Man Football Association.

Current rules state only sovereign nations can be admitted.

Gibraltar are the most recent but their application dated back to before the rules were changed in 2001.

Bass says it’s at least worth a measured look.
