Lowest November figure in four years

Unemployment rose last month – but the government says it was at its lowest November level for four years.

786 people were out of work – up 12 from October – giving an unemployment rate of 1.8 per cent.

More than two-thirds of those looking for a job are men, and by the end of November there were 286 full-time vacancies at the Job Centre.

And according to the government figures, a total of 589 jobs were registered at the jobcentre over the course of the month.
