Legion asks people to attend funeral

The Douglas branch of the Royal British Legion is asking for people to show their respects for a World War Two veteran next week.

Former Japanese prisoner of war James Burge has died aged 96, but has no family or friends on the Island.

This morning on its Facebook page, the club has appealed for people to attend his funeral, which takes place on Monday, to give him the send off he deserves.

Mr Burge will be laid to rest at 11am at the Lawn Cemetery in Douglas.
