Charity CD goes on sale tomorrow

by isleofman.com 10th December 2015
The charity CD, featuring the Island’s own X Factor star Simon Lynch, Mark Walton and Mae Challis goes on sale on Friday 11th December and there’s an opportunity to buy a copy and have it signed by all three artists on Sunday 13 December at the Strand Centre, Douglas between 2pm and 5pm.

The single from the CD, which costs just ?5, is ‘One Day Like This’ by Simon Lynch which includes many local musicians and choruses recorded at public events in November. The other tracks on the CD are Mark Walton’s version of Take That’s ‘Let in the Sun’ and Mae’s own song, ‘Dear Santa’. There is also a bonus track from Simon, Jess Glynne’s ‘Hold My Hand’.

Carole Male from the Manx Breast Cancer Support Group is very excited about the CD’s release:

“Thanks to sponsors Novo Altum, and the generous support of Duke Marketing, DAM Productions and others, not to mention Elbow waiving their synchronisation fee for the promo film, we have covered our costs, which means all the money raised from the sale of the CD will be used to improve services for cancer patients on the Island."

“We’ve had a lot of fun making it,” Carole continued, “and we were overwhelmed by the support of the Manx public, who came out on a very rainy Saturday to take part in the recording and filming of the ‘One Day Like This’. So please go out and buy a copy, and perhaps another one to give as a Christmas present!”

The Manx Breast Cancer Support Group is the only charity raising funds for the new Breast Care Unit, and is now planning to purchase a state-of-the-art Intra-Operative Radiotherapy Machine which will ensure people with many different cancers can have all their treatment on the Island instead of undergoing weeks of daily radiotherapy at hospitals elsewhere.

The CD is available to buy from Currys, Duke Videos, Peter Norris Music, Curpheys, and the Cosmetic Medical Centre in Douglas, Scissors in Onchan, The Travel Shop and Chree Brae Gift Shop in Castletown, Noble’s Hospital Shop, Riley's Garden Centre and Top 2 Toe in Peel and Ramsey.

It can also be bought at www.dukevideo.com and will be available to download from iTunes. The ‘making of’ film will be released on YouTube next week.
