The Isle of Man Office of Fair Trading wishes to make the public aware of an important safety notice which has been issued in relation to Hotpoint/Indesit/Creda tumble dryers purchased prior to October 2015.
A safety concern has been identified. In some rare cases, excess fluff can come into contact with the heating element and present a risk of fire.
To find out whether your dryer may be affected, visit http://safety.hotpoint.eu or http://safety.indesit.eu or contact the freephone hotline on 0800 151 0905.
Make sure that you have your model and serial numbers at hand. These can be found on the tag located either on the back of the dryer’s door or on the recess of the dryer’s door.
An engineer will visit, free of charge, to modify your appliance.
In the meantime, consumers may continue to use their products, provided that appliances are not left unattended whilst operating, but are reminded of the need for regular cleaning of the lint filter and proper venting as outlined in the user manual.
