Stencils to target dog owners

Council plans anti-fouling campaign on pavements

The writing’s on the pavement for dog foulers – if Douglas council approves a new idea.

At a meeting at Douglas Town Hall on Wednesday councillors will discuss using stencils to put the anti-fouling message on the borough’s walkways.

In a trial project, the capital’s worst-hit areas would be cleaned before the message is then painted on the pavement.

The local authority’s Environmental Committee sounds a note of warning though: saying the Department of Infrastructure, which owns the pavements, might object to the stencils in important areas such as Strand Street.
