Man arrested in connection with Newby's robbery

by isleofman.com 7th December 2015
A local man has been arrested and some property recovered, thought to be stolen during a recent Robbery at Newby’s Convenience store on Glen Falcon Road in Douglas, on the 3rd November.

The incident, which Police have already released CCTV footage of, involved a man entering the store just prior to closing; wearing a balaclava type garment in an effort to conceal his identity. The man made several threats towards the female shop assistant before lighting and throwing an apparent fire-cracker onto the floor of the shop and making off with stores cash drop-safe.

Detective Constable Sam Cannell from the Criminal Investigations Department would like to reassure local businesses and residents that such incidents are taken very seriously and investigated thoroughly. Home and business security is something of paramount importance, especially this time of year.

As with any investigation, if anyone has any further information about what happened, please could they contact Police Headquarters on 631212 or alternatively Crime Stoppers on 0800 555111.
