Public sector housing tenants will see their rent increase by 2.6 per cent - the rate of inflation - from April 1 next year.
It means the average weekly rent on a one bedroom flat will be ?54.85 and the tenant of a four bedroom house can expect to pay ?116.17 per week on average.
Rents increased in April this year by five per cent.
Infrastructure Minister Phil Gawne said: 'Government recognises the financial challenges being faced by some people in the Isle of Man, particularly those on fixed incomes, with increasing household expenditure. Consequently a decision has been taken to cap the public sector rent increase at 2.6 per cent in line with inflation. This rise will support the capital programme which has contributed so much to the comfort and standard of living of public sector tenants.'
