by isleofman.com 4th December 2015
KPMG is pleased to announce that it is once again Gold Sponsor of this year’s Manx Biomed conference, which commences on 9 December at the Claremont Hotel Douglas.

Featuring presentations from scientists, business people, service providers and government regulators, the conference – the third to date – will give delegates the opportunity to hear about emerging biomed technologies as well as business opportunities in the biomed sector on the Isle of Man.

In addition to sponsoring the event, KPMG is also providing The Manx Biomed Conference’s keynote professional services speaker, Dr. Thishi Surendranathan, Life Sciences Sector Executive for the UK and Europe at KPMG. Dr. Surendranathan will be speaking on some of the high-level themes that will run through the evolution of the healthcare and life sciences industries.

Dr. Surendranathan is a qualified medical doctor with commercial, strategic and operational experience in healthcare and life sciences. He joined KPMG as an advisor in the Management Consulting practice two years ago, before transferring to the Corporate Finance Infrastructure team, where he has given commercial and financial advice on transactions and high-profile public procurements.

Prior to joining KPMG, Dr. Surendranathan qualified as a doctor at University College London Medical School in 2007, having completed his pre-clinical studies at the University of Cambridge. He went on to complete his Core Medical Training at Barts and the London NHS Trust, working in a variety of healthcare settings, including acute hospital care, critical care, emergency care, general practice and rehabilitation.

Nick Quayle, Director at KPMG said: “KPMG are delighted to be sponsoring the Manx Biomed Conference again this year. The biomed sector presents some significant and exciting opportunities for the Island’s economy. The conference is key to building upon the momentum already achieved locally and to raising the Island’s profile internationally.

“With such a wealth of experience and a truly intimate knowledge of the biomed sector, Dr. Surendranathan’s talk will no doubt be as informative as it is interesting. I’m very much looking forward to this event.”
