Eighteen-year-old takes title at second attempt

The Isle of Man has another British cycling road race champion.

Nathan Draper has won the race at junior level, just a matter of weeks after Peter Kennaugh took the senior title for the second year in a row.

The race was held in North Yorkshire at the weekend, over a 64-mile course.

Draper was part of a breakaway, three of whom managed to remain ahead of the main bunch until the end and contested the sprint for the line between themselves.

Having been in the same position on his debut the previous, when he came second, Draper used his experience of that and struck out first on the sprint.

It was a position he managed to hold, crossing the line a second ahead of Robert Scott.

The other Manx riders to compete in the race were Owen Dudley, Nathan Hinks and Michael Moss.

The latter two retired, but Dudley managed to secure eighth place.
