Spectacular Opening Ceremony planned in Los Angeles

Manx ready for sports to begin

The opening ceremony for the Special Olympics World Games takes place in Los Angeles later today.

The Isle of Man team is amongst 177 countries taking part with over 7,000 athletes set to compete in 25 sports.

The First Lady Michelle Obama is attending the ceremony where headline acts include Stevie Wonder, Avril Lavigne and Nicole Scherzinger.

National Director for Isle of Man Special Olympics Beryl Wooldridge is heading the Manx party in the United States:
