Wins on the road for Douglas and Vagas
Douglas climbed to seventh in South Lancashire/Cheshire Division One with a 23-13 win away at Liverpool Collegiate.
Glyn Hooson-Owen’s side mastered the conditions quicker than Collegiate with tries coming from Nick Hughes and Shaun Wyllie with Bryn Snellgrove converting both and adding three penalties for good measure.
In Cheshire (South), Vagabonds set the cat amongst the pigeons when they beat leaders Manchester Medics in Manchester.
Joe Louw and Ross McCulloch picked up tries for Vagas, both of which were converted by Leigh Kennaugh.
Vagas were trailing by two with just a few minutes left when Kennaugh boomed over a long range penalty to seal the result.
Ramsey were outmuscled at Marple
The first foray in wet and muddy conditions was never going to end well for the northerners, who play a faster handling style.
They were wrestled out of the game 30-3 by a Marple side who revelled in the mire.
Scott Kneale’s penalty was the sum total of Ramsey’s efforts.
