Software to help phone uses with hearing loss

A new research trial which aims to improve quality of life for people with a hearing loss is to be launched in the Isle of Man.

The venture will assess technology designed to improve telephone sound quality - potentially making it easier for those with hearing difficulties to hold conversations.

Manx Telecom has teamed-up with the Island's Audiology Service and a UK firm for the four week trial - and organisers are seeking volunteers with a mild, moderate or severe hearing loss.

Anyone with a Manx mobile can take part., contact Noble's Hospital audiology clinic on 650407 for more information about the trial.

The government's healthcare innovation chief Courtenay Heading says the software adjusts mobile signals to suit individual needs:
