Joughin's joy as Keys ambition fulfilled

Voter turnout of 30.5 per cent

East Douglas has elected a new member of the House of Keys.

Jon Joughin beat six other candidates to scoop victory at yesterday's by election.

159 votes secured his success, putting him just 13 votes ahead of second-place rival Clare Bettison.

Turnout at the election was 30.51 per cent, with 865 ballots cast in total.

Joughin will occupy his seat for at least ten months, ahead of next year's General Election.

He said he remains hopeful despite such a short tenure:
