Acting AG warns Tynwald about bribery

Members could be prosecuted

Tynwald members and civil servants could be prosecuted if they accept bribes to leak tendering information about contracts.

Acting Attorney General John Quinn says there are possible offences of bribery, breaching the Official Secrets Act, conspiracy, or committing an act against public trade.

 

He faced questions on the issue from Onchan MHK Peter Karran this morning in Tynwald.

 

John Quinn said there are charges in the UK of committing misfeasance in public office, but the Isle of Man has no such law:
